Xlvc is a full-bandwidth line array for demanding applications. Whenever high-performance audio and limited size and weight have to be combined, the Electro-Voice X-Line Very Compact is the answer.
While expectations of audio performance in terms of SPL, natural response, and uniform coverage have expanded, demand for smaller, lighter sound systems has increased. X-Line Very Compact offers the best of both worlds: XLD systems are capable of producing concert SPL levels on full bandwidth in small to medium-sized venues. Smaller XLE-systems are ideal for critical audio requirements where cluster size is the highest priority. Both systems are well-suited for many types of live and install applications.
EV’s Hydra™, used in X-Line and XLC, has a height of seven-inches (17.5 cm). In order to maintain extraordinary high-frequency response, a new four-inch (10 cm) Hydra was developed to match the DVN2080 eight-inch woofer. Each Hydra is driven by the new ND2S, a two-inch, neodymium compression driver. A single waveguide is fed with the plane wave from the Hydras resulting in wide bandwidth, even horizontal coverage, and predictable vertical coverage.
XCS312
The Electro-Voice® XCS312 is designed for high-level, low-frequency extension to 40 Hz in a cardioid configuration. It uses three DVX3120 forced-air-cooled, 12-inch transducers capable of long, linear excursion and high power handling in a two-channel configuration.
XCS312s are designed to be used with a ratio of four XLD281 or XLD291 full-range systems for each XCS312 subwoofer. The XLVC family consists of two full-range Line Array Elements with dual woofers, two full-range Line Array Elements with single woofers and two subwoofer systems. The dual woofer Line Array Element includes the XLD281 with a 120 degree horizontal coverage pattern and the XLD291 with a 90 degree horizontal coverage pattern. The single-woofer Line Array Element includes the XLE181 with a 120 degree horizontal coverage pattern and the XLE191 with a 90 degree horizontal coverage pattern.
The XCS312 cardioid subwoofer module has the same rigging footprint as the XLD281 and XLD291, which allows it to be directly arrayed above, or below XLD281 or XLD291 full-range systems. LAPS modeling software quickly provides array configurations and rigging information. XCS312 subwoofers can be used as the base for ground-stack applications, or by using EV’s XGS-4 ground-stack Kit for XLVC. XLVC delivers unprecedented performance in applications ranging from live reinforcement, to performing arts venues, to house-of-worship.
XLD281
The XLD281 is the core element for constructing X-Line Very Compact systems. The XLD281 is a three–way design using Coverage Control Technology (CCT™) to provide control horizontal coverage to 250Hz.
The XLD281 uses an eight-inch, neodymium, low-frequency transducer, an eight-inch, neodymium, LF/MB transducer, and two neodymium, two-inch, voice-coil compression drivers combining through two Hydra™ plane wave generators into a 120 degree x 10 degree waveguide. CCT™ uses both eight-inch transducers to provide maximum low-frequency output and operating bandwidth while controlling horizontal beamwidth to 250 Hz by using DSP. The XLD281 can be used in triamp mode, or in biamp using a sophisticated internal passive network.
Designed for use in arrays of four or more elements, the XLD281 delivers full-bandwidth audio with precise, predictable coverage control. Integrated rigging with hinge points located correctly between array elements is easy to use and quickly provides uncompromised line array performance. Ground-stacking is easy using array rails or subwoofers as the array base.
XLD291
The XLD291 is the core element for constructing X-Line Very Compact systems. The XLD281 is a three–way design using Coverage Control Technology (CCT™) to provide control horizontal coverage to 250Hz.
The XLD291 uses an eight-inch, neodymium, low-frequency transducer, an eight-inch, neodymium, LF/MB transducer, and two neodymium, two-inch, voice-coil compression drivers combining through two Hydra™ plane wave generators into a 120 degree x 10 degree waveguide. CCT™ uses both eight-inch transducers to provide maximum low-frequency output and operating bandwidth while controlling horizontal beamwidth to 250 Hz by using DSP. The XLD291 can be used in triamp mode, or in biamp using a sophisticated internal passive network.

Ground-stacking is easy using array rails or subwoofers as the array base.
XLE181
The XLE181 is a two-way design using the same eight-inch, neodymium LF/MB transducer as the XLD281, and the same dual, ND2S high-frequency driver combination with a 120 degree x 10 degree waveguide coverage. At less than 40lbs (18 kg) per unit, the XLE offers a powerful, very compact solution for sound reinforcement applications with limited space and load capacity. The XLE181 can be used in biamp mode or full-range using a sophisticated internal passive network.
Designed for the use in arrays of four and more elements, the XLE181 delivers full-bandwidth audio with precise, predictable coverage control. The integrated rigging is easy to use and quickly provides uncompromised line array performance.
XLE191
The XLE191 is a two-way design using the same eight-inch, neodymium LF/MB transducer as the XLD291, and the same dual, ND2S high-frequency driver combination with a 120 degree x 10 degree waveguide coverage. At less than 40lbs (18 kg) per unit, the XLE offers a powerful, very compact solution for sound reinforcement applications with limited space and load capacity. The XLE191 can be used in biamp mode or full-range using a sophisticated internal passive network.

XS212
The XS212 is a double, 12-inch, bass cabinet featuring two of the new DVX3120 woofers. A unique configuration allows side-firing transducers to match the XLD281 horizontal coverage and match the rigging footprint. This allows the use of XS212 above or below arrays of XLD281 or, if vertical space is limited to be flown behind the full range array. Depending on music style and taste the ratio of XLD to XS212 is three or four to one. One ground-stacked XS212 is the same height as two XLD281, which is convenient for transportation.
EV® is one of the very few loudspeaker manufacturers that has the experience, heritage, and capability to design and build their own transducers. The DVX3120 is the latest model from the new DVX Series. Forced-air, voice-coil cooling provides very low-power compression for very high SPL capability, low distortion, and reliability.
